DIY deodorant + antiperspirant

Complements to The Chemical Free Home for this recipe.


  • 3/4 C baking soda
  • 1/2 C cornstarch
  • 1 TBSP Thieves Dentarome PLUS
  • 1 TBSP Young Living V-6
  • 1/2 C coconut oil
  • YL essential oil of choice
  • 3 tsp Vitamin E serum
  • 16 drops Petitgrain essential oil
  • 20 drops Geranium essential oil


Heat baking soda, cornstarch and coconut oil on low until melted.  Add toothpaste and stir until dissolved.  Remove from heat and add V-6, Vitamin E and essential oils.  Allow to cool, but not get hard.  Pour into empty deodorant containers (makes 4) or place in wide mouth mason jar.  *If using mason jar to store, simply use your finger to scoop out about 1/4 tsp and apply.

    Hi! I am new to essential oils, but am so excited to begin trying them!! the Thieves Dentranome PLUS is out of stock, what can you substitute for that using this recipe?

      I would just leave it out if it’s OOS. However, I believe it is in stock now!

    I made this exactly besides the toothpaste and it wont stay hard at room temperature. It will only stay solid if its put in the refrigerator

      Hi Melissa, yes, in warmer months it needs to be refrigerated to stay solid since coconut oil is a liquid above 72 degrees.
