Homemade deodorant is easy to make, but takes some tweaking to make it right for you! I have read that after using products that contain skin irritants, our body produces more oil to counter this irritation.  So, when switching to homemade products that don’t contain harsh chemicals, keep in mind that your body has to adjust to this change.  Give it some time.  Also, keep in mind homemade deo is not an antiperspirant, but over time, you will sweat less because your body is not combating the chemicals. Two recipes I use are as follows…

Combine these ingredients in a wide mouth mason jar:

  • 6 T coconut oil
  • 1/4 C baking soda
  • 1/4 C arrowroot or cornstarch
  • add your favorite Young Living Essential Oil (purification, lavender, peace and calming, joy, frankincense, myrrh…)

  • 3 T coconut oil
  • 3 T baking soda
  • 2 T shea butter
  • 2 T arrowroot
  • add your favorite Young Living Essential Oils

Use a fork to mix all ingredients well. If room temperature is above 75 the coconut oil will liquefy.  The deo will still work, but if you prefer a solid, keep in the refrigerator during warmer weather.  I use about a teaspoon and rub on with my fingers.
